Believe it or not, but being hygienic and organized are two major factors that affect the quality and growth of a martial artist's life.
Both of them have of course two sub-facets: 1) private and 2) public. I must say that almost every other quality, including physical, mental and emotional health have a direct correlation with the virtues of being clean and organized. Good leadership and the dynamics of success almost depends on these two most rudimentary attributes. Keeping up with everyday hygien and having deadlines on a calendar to accomplish specific goals are two examples of that. If a martial arts instructor doesn't care about these qualities, how can he or she care about the student's true progress. And if a student doesn't care about these qualities, it is almost certain that his or her advancement in every aspect of life would sooner or later hit a plateau-----premature to his or her full potential. Stay hygienic and start having both short term and long term goals with a deadline. If it's not on the calendar, it's useless. Also be realistic! Don't set a goal that you know it would be impossible to organize your life around. A small and manageable goal is better than a complex disorganized one that never gets done. As you achieve smaller goals, and are organized, your sense of self-confidence would increase as well. This gets rewarding and increases your threshold for higher goals. In turn your emotional and mental health increases along with your physical health as long as you keep up an organized, balanced and hygienic life. The end result of all this would be a better successful life and a healthier outlook into a better future. This is why martial arts is an excellent reinforcer-portal for improving the quality of your life.
