PHOENIX JKD: Three Levels of Interception

PHOENIX JKD: Three Levels of Interception
1. Technique-interception (ex: intercepting a heavy sucker punch) 2. Encroachment-interception (ex: intercepting a person walking up to you in order to knock you out) 3. Intent-interception (ex: intercepting a person while he is [thinking] about knocking you out just a second or two prior to their actual attack Since [intent] is the root of all planed attacks, therefore in my book, its intercept must represent the most comprehensive understanding of that principle. At a deep level, "interception" is really [a way of thinking] rather than [a way of doing]. There are of course several types of thinking. The one I am referring to is more of a way of instinctual thinking, rather analytical thinking. It is by way of what the ancient alchemists used to call transmutation. It’s really changing the nature of something into an entirely different thing. Through years of mindful and practical training and the deep love we exercise in what we do, and in paying attention to the intricacies of physical movements and the smallest cues in their unity and connectivity, We can, to some [limited measure], go from having the propensity for technique-interception to the actual [intent]. It will never be perfect but we do our best every day. SHAHRAM MOOSAVI PHOTO: Old picture of professor Roger Denton and I.
